thrifts and crafts from christmas' past

i put just a few festive things out yesterday. i try to ease into the season, so as not to overwhelm john, who can be a bit of a hum-bug but is very forgiving of my over-the-top christmas-y ways. the vintage fake mistletoe is an all-time favorite find of mine, and i was all about making the vintage button wreaths last year. many received them as gifts and my stash was critically depleted of red and green buttons.
and here is another great ornament find from this year. my kids have been fighting over him, but he is mine, mine i tell you!
ooooooh I love the mistletoe. Ho Ho Ho.. The hub here is a bit of a humbug too but once we get that ball rolling he joins in with reckless abandon.

Oh yes, I know all about the inability to cede childish things to the children. I have one or two such things myself, much to Iris' chagrin.

Your button wreath is gorgeous - did you glue the buttons? What did you use as a base? Pleeeease share your secrets, my buttons are calling... 'make one from uuus'.

Great looking ornaments (and cookies too)! We have a 'fake' mistletoe ornament too. It's p-l-a-s-t-i-c (yikes) but we just can't part with it. It's been in the family forever. BTW: Love your new blog blanner.

I heart that wreath and you have inspired me to try and make one of my own... that bear ornament is super cute!!! I too like to ease into the holidays plus my Birthday is Dec. 12th and it is such an overwhelming month sometimes....Happy Holidays, you go girl and deck the heck out of your halls. xoxo

I'm echoing a question above: what do you use as a base for the button wreath? It's darling.
