random

Bike
another meme and i can't remember where i saw it.
share seven random things about yourself.
well, you know i like memes and i love random stories, so here goes...

in sixth grade, i lost my class spelling bee to david fernandez, who would get to compete in front of the whole school. i wished real hard that somehow i could get to compete instead of him, and sure enough he was sick the day of the spelling bee so i got to go. and i lost out on my first word...
flood. f-l-u-d. flood.
there might be a lesson in there somewhere.

my sisters and i used to play this game where you try to make the other laugh and the other would try to keep a straight face. we used to say to my sister crissy, "bet we can make you laugh!" and she'd say "no you can't" and then we'd say in a real sing-songy voice "poopie-poopie-fart-fart!" and then she'd start laughing and scream "NO DISGUSTING WORDS!"

i used to want to be a secretary when i grew-up, and live in a big city, and never get married and never have kids.

nicknames i've had (have):
meggie. megatha. megalopolis. (family)
maggie. mags. sugar magnolia. pagan (rhymes w/meghan). plain jane. cindyloowho.  (college friends)
dogger. boog. sug. babe. (john)

my dad invented "great fernal day", which is celebrated on the first tuesday after the second thursday in october when the great fernal rises out of the cranberry bog and gives all the good boys and girls nothing that they've never wanted. or something like that. when we were little, he always bought donuts to celebrate. he still sends us a card and a couple of scratch tickets.

all right. i can't think of seven, but i think that is quite enough. i never tag people, but join in if you feel like it. happy monday!

random is so good!

i lost the spelling bee in second grade. and have never forgot it. i like great fernal day...and that your dad still sends you cards. :)

Oh, your dad sounds wonderful

ok
this post seals the deal for me!
i think we may be the same person living separate lives.
i love libraries
i make stuff with vintage kids books
i make buttons too!
i not only have been called cindyloohoo most of my life, i used to believe i was her.
you like the same tv shows as me (i only watch 2)
my friend jacinta and i are going to the renegade craft fair
i will find you and say "hi"

My kids are 14 and 6, and they still make each other laugh by staying variations of "poopie- poopie-fart-fart". You'd think my fourteen year old would be above that, but sadly, no. If his little sister really wants to make him double over with laughter, she throws in the word "Buhjina". Gets him every time.

I love "Great Fernal Day". Ha! What a fun dad.

I'm still giggling about Great Fernal Day!!! How cute/funny is that? What a great Dad!

my daily dose of fun. thanks meg!

i'll play along. i have a 6th grade spelling bee story too, but nothing as cool as the Great Fernal Day anecdote...

damn, i lost the spelling bee too. scum. s-k-u-m. scum. what?? it's wrong?? & i'm a really good speller to this day too. the stars were not aligned that day.

your dad is awesome. i absolutely love that he still sends cards.

It was the 7th grade spelling bee that I lost by one word!

What a cool dad. Remind me to become a zany parent, 'K?

Now THIS is what a meme should be!

I am sooooooooooo loving that photo!!!!xoxox

My elementary & middle school years are full of me being spelling bee runner-up. Now I guess I should be glad I was never the queen bee. Although I did lose two years in a row on the same word: vacuum. That's one screwed-up word, I tells ya.
Your dad rocks. All I've got is a dad who calls *every* St Pat's to tell me that same stupid "Patty O' Furniture" joke. (Okay, I like it, but Great Fernal Day? Awesome.)

Coming out of lurkdom just to say...."Poopie, poopie, fart, fart"... comic genius I tell you... who wouldn't laugh??

Oh, and you forgot a nickname....you might disown me if I share it though...

That is an awesome bike!
