drive-by thrifting

i had a couple extra minutes between getting stood up for an appointment and picking up the kids yesterday, so i hit a thrift store real quick. i grabbed a few cute books and a mug. the mug's got a little chip so i think it's headed to my office to keep my pens tidy.

(see my flickr for info on the books)

and i have an embarrassing announcement to make: if you are the erin from canada that won a group of books i was giving away, i have been meaning to e-mail you but lost your e-mail so i'm hoping you might be reading this...i was unable to send your package because it cost $35 to ship that pile of books to canada and i'm too cheap. i'm sorry! and i'm sorry i lost your e-mail! (and i'm sorry i'm too cheap).

ok, then. happy tuesday!

that mug is super cheery! i am amazed at what you can find in thrift stores with just a few minutes. i expect to learn all your secrets in august. 'k?

thirty-five bucks?! i guess no media mail to our neighbor to the north, huh?

Found me! 35 dollars? that's crazy! especially since I'm closer in Ottawa than people in most of your states. Thank you anyhow...I appreciate it anyway.

Er, this probably doesn't help after the fact, but there is a flat rate priority international envelope, I think it runs $11 or $12 depending on the country. For some reason no one at the post office ever seems to know about it (or wants to tell me about it!), so I have to go dig through their supplies to find them.

I have mailed a HEAVY pile of magazines to Norway for $12 that way though, it would have been $37 to mail it in my own packaging.

Love that second illustration!

I love those drive-by runs. It keeps from getting lost in there, and you only get stuff that is really GOOD. The mug is adorable.
