well, she asked for it

Img_0008
my sister crissy (who has a blog i didn't know about but whatever*) tagged me for a meme today. it's the reveal 7 things about yourself meme which i have been tagged for several times before. but since she's my sister and since it's almost her birthday and since you already know way more about me than you ever wanted to, here are 7 random things about my sister, crissy...

  • one of the meanest things my siblings and i did when we were little was hang crissy's favorite doll, helena, from the basement ceiling (i mention the doll's name only because we now refer to that incident as "the time we hung helena")
  • plus we told her that eskimo pies were made from chopped up eskimos and we thought that was hysterical
  • crissy went through a bit of a goth period in high school, during which time our toddler nephew pronounced her name "creepy", which has stuck.
  • after crissy graduated college, she and a couple friends followed the dead around for awhile. they came to stay w/john and i for a bit and they were filthy. i gave them sos pads to get their feet clean.
  • crissy is really good at cross-stitch. or needlepoint. i always get those two mixed up (and have never tried either...)
  • she loves elephants
  • and she's not someone you want to cross. we like to say "is she a good bitch, or a bad bitch?". crissy's a good bitch. it probably has something to do w/all that teasing she endured. she has us to thank for her tough skin.

you're welcome, crissy! and happy birthday a few days early!
xoxo

*if you think i'm snarky and sarcastic, read crissy's blog. you'll see where i get it...

okay, so not only do your kids rock my world, but apparently now your whole family does. this is funny. thanks meg.

also, the sos pads...that's freaking hilarious!

OMG this is freaking priceless! So glad I jumped over...I've been reading your sister for awhile, actually found Graham's caringbridge site whilst prego with my own CDHer and have tried to keep up with her since. Your twist on the meme just made my night! GREATNESS!

HA!
Ok..... don't remember the SOS pads at all...And thank you for not mentioning how bad we smelled....

you are both funny gals.

I used to call my sister and her friends the "dirty hippies." They came to visit me on a road trip and at one point, a teenager who lived in the same building as me brought me a can of air freshener to help with the stink. You are hilarious!

Laughed all the way through. 'The time we hung Helena.' Gold.

Well played!
I never wished I had a sister until I read this.
Cheers! Tracey

Hilarious! It's strangely comforting (and really funny) to know that so many other kids have humorous albeit morbid doll incidents. You and your sibling hung Helena; my sister and I have the Ken-Doll incident in which I hid a naked Ken doll (no idea how he lost his clothes - I think the Barbies ganged up on him) under my sister's comforter, which freaked her out to the point of hysterics when she pulled the comforter back to get into bed. Reading your 7 things about your sister has made me laugh out loud and brought back so many memories. Ahhh, sisters.... I think I will call mine tonight. :)

ah, also gave me reminded me of some great sibling memories! my boys love to hear stories about how i tormented their beloved aunt when we were kids. ;^)

Holy crap, Meg. I'm laughing my ass off and also cringing just a little bit because as the middle sister of three, I:

1) Hung my little's sister's beloved Ewok (this definitely dates me) from a tree.

2) Get a fairly distinct patchouli whiff while reading this post about your stinky Deadhead sister.

3) Am, yet again, impressed by peoples' abilities to recover from childhood trauma (myself and my sisters included). Definitely a case of what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, snarkier and more sarcastic than ever.

You and your sister both rock. xoxo

P.S. You are definitely in on the perennial shopping trip. But only if a pitcher of Bloody Marys is involved in some manner.

HA! I'm sorry...it cracks me up that your sister had a blog and you were unaware...I once told my little brother that if you touch the back of a bee, it's good luck! HA, he did and you can imagine the result...Though now I feel like a jerk. :)

I can see why she didn't tell you about the blog...
