yeah...i got nothing

this blog is getting stale.
working more = crafting less = not much to report
so if i'm here less, that's why.

but since you're here...

• i went w/john to see iron man on friday. i was feeling lukewarm about it (i'm not a huge action hero fan), but must report that it was awesome, due in no small part to robert downey jr.'s excellent hotness
• it rained all weekend, so we hung out, watched movies, played on our computers, puttered around the house, made forts (see picture)
• people sent some good you-tube my way today

ouch

i woke up early this morning to go for a walk/run and spent a good 20 minutes searching in vain for clean running pants. all i could find were a pair of capris, which made for a brisk run in 25 degree weather, and offered up lots of exposed skin for a nice big road rash when i took a major digger while running up a hill a bit ago. and i yelled out a pretty loud "oh, fuck!!!!" as i lost my grip on my i-phone and watched it sail out in front of me and land on the pavement as hard as i just had. i'm sure that was a nice wake up call for some of my neighbors. anywhoooooooo...i've got some nice bloody road rashes on my shin/hand/elbow areas and the shower i'm about to take is gonna smart for sure. but my i-phone is unharmed (though also a little bloody) so i'm relieved.

and i got the christmas lights down yesterday, which marks the official start of spring in our house.

we're headed to new york tomorrow for a mini vacation (for me and the kids, john will be working for most of it) so i might not be around here much for the next couple days. or maybe just some pictures. we'll see.

the older i get, the more my mental well-being seems dependent on sunlight. it's a little scary. today is sunny and i'm feeling pretty grateful.

this song was playing on the radio when i took a shower this morning. i love chistie mcvee's voice - i always felt like she was underrated.

first day of spring my ass

it's gloomy inside and out and we are all home sick. again. but we're cozy with lots of quilts and pillows and spongebob videos and ben & jerry's and my laptop and scrabble friends.

it would be mr. roger's 80th birthday today (thanks for the link, liz).
and these have to be the fugliest shoes ever.
that's all i got. if you're sick too, i hope you're better soon. if you're not sick, start chugging your vitamins. it's headed your way.

it happened

a good friend of mine had a mini-breakdown right around college graduation when she realized her hands looked just like her mom's ("old lady hands! old lady hands!!!!!!!!"). i had that breakdown today. it was really sunny and springy out and my co-worker, emily, and i went out for lunch. we had the car windows down and a weezer song came on the radio so i cranked it up and we were talking about how much we love weezer and i was saying how i used to listen to that (the '94) album over and over again and emily agreed that this was her favorite album when she was in sixth grade.

lightened my load

wow - my home is over 100 books lighter. ok, not all of them are out of my home yet but i'm working on it. thanks everyone - that was fun!

we had a sick, laze about the house kind of weekend and i'm headed toward a busy, run around like a crazy person kind of week. might be light on the posting.

february break :: day one

today looked like this...

and we had hopes to ski but we all have colds.

so instead we went bowling and made cupcakes (and brought some to the neighbors) and played mad libs and made paper flowers and made the kids' favorite mac-n-cheese for dinner. and retired the pretty but maudlin music i've had on constant rotation for the past month and popped in some peppy nostalgia.
